Perfumer's Notes

I saw trendy cherry perfumes popping up everywhere on the market, and they were all quite disappointing. Could I create a cherry perfume that is wearable, sophisticated, and timeless? I wasn’t sure, so I decided to revisit my old ‘cheeky cherry lollipop’ accord and experiment with modifying it and adding different elements to it.

First came the amber. Voluminous, posh, and sophisticated, it was needed to anchor the fruity notes on the skin and give it depth.

Then I added a touch of exotic ylang ylang flower oil (of the highest quality grade). You just need the tiniest amount to make a big difference, and the composition immediately went from Britney Spears to Maria Callas.

Next came patchouli. I added a drop, then two, then ten. Until I discovered that an outrageous overdose of patchouli blended perfectly to add volume, strength, and vibrancy.

My friend Claudio, who helped with the evaluations, wasn’t quite satisfied yet. He suggested adding some rose for good measure. So I added an extract of three different types of heirloom roses from Valle Scrivia (Liguria). They are traditionally used to make a delicious rose syrup that has been part of Genoa’s heritage for centuries and is now recognized as a Slow Food presidium.

And that’s when the puzzle was complete.

Each spring, on the terraced slopes of the Scrivia Valley, three historic rose varieties (Moss Rose, Damask Rose, and the rare “Valley Rose”) are hand-picked for the production of the traditional syrup (a Slow Food Presidium) and also processed for cosmetic use by JB Rose CosmEthic, a family farm founded by Rossella Ansaldi.

Cultivation is entirely natural: only harvested rainwater and mixed crops are used, promoting biodiversity and soil fertility. The harvest takes place from late May to early June, when the freshly opened blooms are carefully selected at dawn, picked one by one by hand, and processed on site before nightfall.

The three varieties differ in colour, floral structure, and, of course, fragrance. This perfume contains a triple rose extract obtained through supercritical CO₂ extraction, a method that fully preserves the complex aromatic profile of fresh roses.

Aspettavo questo profumo che avevo sentito in fiera. Ho tantissimi profumi di nicchia ma questo e’ decisamente il migliore per me . E’ come essere avvolte in un caldo abbraccio , super persistente . Lo consiglio a chi come me ama sentirsi speciale .

Raro e inaspettato.

Amarena Narici è per me una ciliegia con un sorriso malizioso: mai stucchevole, mai scontata. Non è la solita ciliegia dolce ma un’amarena impertinente, elegante e divertente, che sa essere sensuale senza prendersi troppo sul serio. Indossarlo è come brindare a una serata che promette sorprese.

Very original, powerful and interesting,

Very original, powerful and interesting, until the animalic note kicks in hahaha. Nevertheless the cherry is super sticky and addictive which is hard to achieve. The heart note is beautiful and the animalic note gives power without smelling bad. Well done.

Civettuola, ma anche ammaliante, sfacciata

Amarena è un profumo che canta, un coro di note che si intrecciano in un'armonia sensuale e luminosa.
Appena spruzzato, fin dalle prime note, sembra di sentire una ciliegia succosa e scarlatta, anche se non è scritta sullo spartito. È come una voce nascosta nel coro, che emerge spontanea tra le altre, fruttata e avvolgente, dando un tocco di dolcezza persistente. L’ylang ylang entra in scena come un contralto vellutato, dorato e narcotico, che aggiunge sensualità e profondità. Poi arriva la rosa, il mezzosoprano elegante e sofisticato, che porta con sé una bellezza classica e romantica, avvolgendo la composizione in un abbraccio floreale.
A chiudere la sinfonia, il patchouli: il basso profondo che dà struttura e carattere, lasciando una scia calda e misteriosa, come l’eco di un'ultima nota che vibra nell’aria.
Il risultato è una melodia olfattiva che seduce e affascina, dove ogni ingrediente canta con la propria voce.
Ma è quando Amarena si sedimenta sulla pelle che le note dolci predominanti lasciano spazio a un qualcosa che punge. È civettuola, ma anche ammaliante, sfacciata. Come una donna che all’apparenza sembra ingenua, ma che lancia sguardi eloquenti e provocanti, giocando con il mistero e la seduzione.
