Cristallo

When I started working on this perfume, I wanted to create an atmosphere: an immersive olfactive experience inspired by the Italian pine forests in the Alps, the crisp air at high-altitude that takes your breath away and the fresh aromatic herbs that tingle your nostrils. In perfumery, pine is often relegated to men’s colognes developed for machos riding horses in outdated TV commercials. But here it takes a more complex, genderless and contemporary turn (the Narici way!).

I like to describe this formula as “prismatic”. Like turning a crystal under a spotlight, it reveals new dimensions as it develops on the skin. You first get an aromatic burst of tarragon and spearmint, giving a vintage herbal chewing gum vibe. Then comes the long-lasting, resinous, woody and balsamic phase, built on pine needle essential oil from the Dolomites, punchy elemi resinoid and natural sandalwood.

For special effects, I added some powerful “modifiers”. High-pitched aldehydes and zingy pink pepper boost projection with a frozen metallic twist. Geosmin (one of the most diffusive molecules) shapes the soul of the accord: cold, earthy and humid, like a damp forest floor when the snow melts away.

Ps. The name of this perfume is inspired by Mount Cristallo, one of the highest peaks of the Dolomites, where we source our pine essential oil, and where the 2026 Milano-Cortina Olympic Games take place.

STONE PINE ESSENTIAL OIL (Pinus cembra) harvested and distilled at high altitude in the Dolomites of South Tyrol

Amid pristine highlands and the crystal-clear air of the Alps grows the stone pine, a regal and resilient tree that has inhabited these mountains since the last Ice Age. Also known as cirmolo, it can live for up to a thousand years and has thus become the subject of many myths and legends, revered as a guardian spirit believed to instill strength in weary travelers.

The stone pine essential oil used in our fragrance Cristallo comes from the forests of the Dolomites in South Tyrol, where it is distilled on site using pure alpine spring water.

The harvesting of branches, needles, and residual pine material is carried out entirely by hand at high altitude, in harmony with the natural rhythms of the tree and without any logging practices. This work is done in collaboration with local natural park authorities to ensure the preservation of alpine habitats.
